Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and a section of his supporters are being investigated by police after an allegation of assault was filed against them
Bahati constituency parliamentary aspirant Irene Njoki is accusing Ngunjiri of assaulting her campaign staff who were cleaning a campaign truck in Nakuru.
The lorry driver Simon Karanja claimed the MP and his supporters started beating him up when he refused to shut down the music that was playing from the truck.
“The MP came to me insisted that I have to stop the announcement that Martha Karua will be making several stops in Bahati but I could not stop because I had been hired to do so. It was at this point that he started punching me,” said Karanja.
Njoki is now accusing Ngunjiri of using staff from the Bahati National Government Constituency Development Fund to harass and intimidate her supporters.
Police Commander Samson Andanje confirmed the incident is under probe
Njoki accused Ngunjiri of causing violence with an aim of being arrested and use it to seek and gain ublic sympathy.
