The final voters register to be used in the August 9 polls will be ready by June 9, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced.
IEBC has been carrying out a voter register verification exercise across the country.
The commission awarded an external tender to KPMG auditing firm to carry out a clean up exercise of the register
The law that requires the voters register to be ready and gazetted sixty days before the polls.
Speaking in Nairobi during a meeting with presidential aspirants, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said the audit report of the 22 million voters roll will be made public .
Chebukati noted that his commission was ready to manage the August polls saying the commission will re-use the Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits which were utilized in 2017 general elections as most of them are still in good condition.
