President Uhuru Kenyatta lashed out the deputy president, saying he abandoned him at his time of need to start early campaigns.
Speaking during the 57th Labour Day Celebrations on May 1, 2022 at the Nyayo National stadium, the president accused William Ruto of being an absentee deputy president who has resorted to criticizing his administration over high cost of living claims.
“Instead of helping me end the situation you are all over in the marketplaces inciting people to ask me about the situation.” Lamented the President.
The Head of State said he wondered why DP Ruto had not resigned if he felt the Jubilee government was not living up to its promises.
“Why didn’t you then resign and leave me to search for a person who could help me?” the president added.
In a rather turn of events, President Uhuru applauded Azimio’s presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga for coming to his aide.
“That’s why I thank that old man (Raila). Even if he had his own issues, I thank him because he came to my aid,” said the president.
President Uhuru added that the problem of the rising cost of living was not brought by anyone but the Covid-19 pandemic and the high fuel prices.
