Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka condemned leaders politicizing the late former president Mwai Kibaki’s funeral after he was not given the platform to address the congregants at Nyayo Stadium and Othaya during his former boss’ wake.
Kalonzo served as Kibaki’s vice president from 2007 to 2013. While speaking in Masinga on Tuesday, May 3, during the burial of Mzee Michael Mutuku Nduto, father to Masinga Constituency Wiper candidate David Mutuku, Kalonzo told off leaders politicizing the issue.
He said, “Let Mzee Mwai Kibaki rest in peace, don’t make him a subject of debate whether or not I was able to sing at his funeral. We are bigger than that, more intelligent than that, and more tolerant than that, and quite frankly, if you want to continue that discussion about Kibaki’s burial, don’t mention my name.”
The wiper boss said he had the privilege of working with the late mzee Kibaki for five years, and to him, being present on the two occasions for his final send-off was enough. Kalonzo remarked he had no resentment towards the instance, and rival politicians should not use it as a scapegoat.
Kalonzo’s response is directed to Deputy President William Ruto’s allies, who have continued to ask him to ditch the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya party and avoid further embarrassment.
