President William Ruto on Monday spoke to Pakistan Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif over the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif.
Through a post on his twitter account, the Prime minister confirmed to having telephoned William Ruto, saying that he asked the Kenya President to ensure a fair and open investigation into the shocking incident.
Sharif disclosed that Ruto had promised to help hasten the investigation process and ensure the deceased’s body was returned to Pakistan.
“Just had a telephonic call with Kenyan President William Ruto about the tragic death of Arshad Sharif in 🇰🇪. I requested him to ensure fair & transparent investigation into shocking incident. He promised all-out help including fast-tracking the process of return of the body to Pakistan,” PM Shebaz tweeted on Monday.
Arshad Sharif was shot and killed on the night of October 23, along the Magadi road, while in a car driven by his brother Mr Kurram Ahmed.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched investigations into the shooting with the Chairperson, Ann Makori assuring that the authority had deployed a team to investigate deeper and produce facts of what transpired in Kajiado County on the night of Sunday October 23.
Mr Sharif’s shooting was allegedly a case of mistaken identity.
Investigations are ongoing.
