President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, July 12 expressed his support once again for Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua as his preferred successors in the August general elections.
During his tour in Kasarani, Nairobi County, the president rained praises on Karua. He stated that the Azimio presidential running mate is a consummate leader who will fight corruption in the next administration if they win the presidential seat.
According to his statement, the Head of State said that during his tenure in office, he has been merciful to rogue officials but under an Odinga-Karua administration, all corrupt leaders will be sent to jail.
“Martha is a lady who doesn’t joke, and I am very sure she will not give all these corrupt leaders and looters a chance. They will be languishing in the cells, she is not like me who forgave them, Karua cannot forgive them,” said the president.
Moreover, the president urged residents to vote for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya team come August 9, saying Raila Odinga is the only presidential aspirant who will carry on with development projects initiated by his administration.
“They are the ones who will be able to continue with this job for us to ensure we have a country that is being led in a just manner, the right way and in a way that solves citizens’ problems,” he stated.
Nonetheless, president Kenyatta while commenting on his deputy’s campaigns said Kenya Kwanza has made him the subject of its campaigns instead of focusing on drumming up support for their members who are vying for various elective seats.
“All these other guys care about is politicking and insults. Everywhere they go these days they cannot stop talking about Uhuru. Uhuru is not seeking any votes, is he?” posed the president.
“They are telling me to wind up and leave the office. Where am I supposed to go? I am here doing my work until the last minute.” He added.
Furthermore, president Kenyatta was speaking in Kasarani after he officially commissioned the Mwiki Level III Hospital, which he said was a game changer in revolutionizing access to health services in Kasarani area.
According to the president, the hospital will significantly reduce the time residents spend looking for health services in neighbouring medical facilities.
