Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has reshuffled her cabinet barely days after she was sworn in as the President of Tanzania following the demise of former President John Pombe Magufuli.
President Suluhu on Wednesday March 31, 2021 announced on Television that she made changes in her cabinet.
In her changes, the Tanzania’s head of state has picked Mwigulu Nchemba who has been serving as the minister for legal and constitutional affairs to head the Ministry of finance docket.
She appointed Liberata Mulamula as the new Foreign Affairs Minister and Ummy Mwalimu to be the Minister in the President’s office.
Ambasador Mulamula replaced Prof Palamagamba Kabudi who has been moved to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
Chief Secretary Bashiru Ally was dropped barely one month after he was appointed. He has been replaced by Tanzania’s ambassador to Japan Hussein Yahya Kattanga.
Speaking after the swearing in ceremony of Vice President Philip Mpango on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, President Suluhu warned her ministers against not assigning deputy ministers any tasks.
She warned that this practice causes frictions within the ministries and should be shunned.
