Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has castigated the police for accepting low pay and fighting spiritedly during anti-government protests.
Speaking on Tuesday, 25 July Babu Owino condemned the police for using brute force during the Azimio demonstrations.
“If this government has not increased your salary as the police and you are fighting this spirited like the people who contested and won this election, it is very shameful.
You don’t have to mistreat Kenyans these are the people you took oath to protect, their lives and defend them.
These are the same people you are killing, destroying their lives and injuring,” said Babu Owino.
He accused the police officers of hurting innocent Kenyans, whose mistake is just to be poor and unable to put something on the table.
Babu was released on bail after police arrested him for instigating the anti-government protests in the country.

Furthermore, Babu said that he was then driven to an unknown location and put in solitary confinement.
“For three days I was not given food, no access to my family, no access to my legal representation, I did not take a bath, I did not take water, and that was a very inhumane treatment accorded to me
“What would happen to a common Mwananchi if an elected MP could be subjected to such treatment.
I’m a messenger, you can kill the messenger, but you will never kill the message. If fighting for Kenyans will cost me my life, so be it. Since I was a student leader, I was fighting for the interests Kenyans, and I will continue fighting for them,” Babu Owino said.
He explained that what happened to him will only catalyze their fight for a better Kenya, saying the cost of living is unbearable for the common man.
Moreover, he said the cost of fuel, maize and other commodities is high and must be lowered.
