Two Members of Parliament have criticized former county governors for seeking to occupy positions of Cabinet Administrative Secretaries.
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui and Sylvanus Osoro of South Mugirango said it is surprising to see former governors contesting for the positions yet they have already enjoyed the perks of leadership.
Mbui says the positions should be given to younger people as a training ground for future leadership.
“We are a country that needs to plan its future and not to keep going backwards because a lot of these names of people that keep applying for these positions have already held very senior positions in the country,” he said.
“There are people who have served two terms as Governor and now they want to become assistant misters. It is important that if we are going to build the country let’s look forward, let’s look at our youth and the people that can be able to add value.”

Mbui argues that leaders who have left office should venture into other professions other than politics.
“As a country we need to understand that if you go for a political office and you don’t make it, find something else to do. Politics is not everything,” he said.
Osoro claimed that ex-governors will not add any value in serving Kenyans.
“It is really very sad to see ex-governors some who have served to their full two terms lining up for these positions. What did you not offer as a county head that you want to offer the country?” he posed.
