The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is today expected to file a petition against the nomination of 50 chief administrative secretaries.
LSK president Eric Theuri says the move by President William Ruto to increase the number of CA’s to 50 is against the law.
According to Theuri, the head of public service ‘applied’ for 23 CAS positions and the public service commission contacted interviews for the same number.
LSK terms the creation of an extra 27 positions as illegal and something that invalidates the entire list.
“What the President did is breaking the law. We will be in court on Monday…when we were in court PSC said they wanted to create 23 positions under public participation and that was the maximum,” he said.
“We wonder why the President chose to nominate 50…this for us is politically motivated and not following the law.”

Last week, the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei released a list of 50 persons nominated to occupy CAS positions in various ministries.
Some ministries have as many as four CAS’s
In October last year, LSK successfully obtained orders to stop the establishment of the office.
The case was however latter dismissed and the PSC proceeded with the interviews
