Former Senator Cleophas Malala has called out Kakamega Members of County Assembly (MCAs) urging them to perform their oversight role in the County Government.
While speaking in Kakamega on Sunday, January 15 Malala claimed the MCAs were forgetting their mandate.
“MCAs need to wake up in their work and start to look into how the governor is fairing in terms of projects and unpacking his manifesto,” he said.
The former senator further claimed that Kakamega county government was falling behind in the schedule of bursaries and constructing schools.
According to him, MCAs cannot do their oversight work if they dine with the executive.
“Mkiona MCA anasimama akisifu gavana, wacha afanye one term. MCAs cannot do their oversight work if they dine with the executive.” Malala added.
Moreover, Malala noted that development in Kakamega was non-negotiable.

He further asked the MCAs to remember their employers who are the residents and carry out their mandate fully.
“Our MCAs should remember what they were tasked to do by these bosses who voted them to office,” Malala added.
