The Kenya Kwanza team Led by ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetang’ula have pitched camp in the Western region to garner support ahead of the August 9, polls.
The two leaders held a series of rallies in the region, starting from Lumakanda, Teso North, Khwisero, Shinyalu, Hamisi and Mt Elgon.
While addressing Kakamega County residents, Mudavadi said they will deliver 90 per cent of the Western votes to Kenya Kwanza come August 9.
“We shall be here until the last minute to ensure we deliver victory to our alliance under our presidential candidate William Ruto,” “those who think we can’t deliver 70 per cent to Kenya Kwanza will be in a rude shock. We will deliver 90 per cent of Western votes to Kenya Kwanza,” Mudavadi said.
The ANC Party leader added that in the years 2007 and 2017, they delivered over 90 per cent of the Western region votes to Raila Odinga. As such, the coalition is committed to ensuring William Ruto wins in round one so that the country is saved from the burden of a run-off poll.
According to Mudavadi, the interests of the Luhya community are well taken care of in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, adding that the season for Luhya people to be taken for a ride and treated as a stepping stone to the country’s top leadership was over.
While discrediting Raila Odinga’s candidature, Mudavadi pointed out that the Azimio said that he will follow President Uhuru Kenyatta’s governance footsteps, which according to him divided the nation.
“Raila has said that he will follow the footsteps of Uhuru. What this means is that what Uhuru has done for Mt Kenya is exactly what he is going to do for the Nyanza region. He has no plans for the Western region,” Mudavadi said.
The ANC leader further claimed that President Uhuru has been taking Mr. Odinga for a ride to ensure that he does not win in the August 9 general elections.
“He told him that he was going to campaign for him, but he never did. He later told him that he will campaign for him at the mountain after appointing his running mate but he has now said that every person should campaign for himself,” Mudavadi added.
Moreover, Mudavadi also mentioned that the president had predicted the fall of Raila and that he had hinted to him and Wetang’ula about retiring together with Azimio’s presidential flag bearer.
The team is scheduled to campaign in Western region counties of Vihiga, Kakamega, Busia and Bungoma for four days.
