President William Ruto has made changes in Board of Directors of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in his latest appointments.
In a gazette notice dated Friday, December 15, President Ruto appointed four new individuals to be KRA Board members while revoking five previous appointments.
President Ruto named Hadi Sheikh Abdullahi, Richard Ndung’u, Lydia Cheromo Rono and Amolo Ngweno as the new members of KRA board.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 7 (3) of the State Corporation Act, I, Willima Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in -Chief of the Defence Forces appoint Hadi Sheikh, Richard Boro, Lydia Cherono and Amolo Ngweno to be members of the KRA board from the 15th December 2023 up to the 12th of January 2026,” read the notice.
However, the appointments of Wilkister M. Simiyu, Fancy C. Too, Michael Kamau Kamiru, Darshan Shah and Samir Brahim were revoked.
Ruto Other Appointments
Further, the president named Michael Kamau Kamiru as the new Chairperson of the Board of the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority.
Kamiru will hold the position for a period of three years with effect from December 15, 2023.
Besides, President Ruto appointed Shallow Abdullahi Yahya to be the Chairperson of the National Drought Management Authority.
Yahya’s appointment took effect on Friday, December 15 and will end on July 12, 2025.
“The appointment of Raphael Mullei Nzomo is revoked,” read the notice.
Aggrey Lucas Kidiavai was announced as the new Chairperson of the State Corporation Appeal Tribunal for a period of three years effective December 15,2023.
CS Appointments
Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) also made several appointments and announcements through the gazette notice.
To begin with, Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u appointed Darshan Shah to be a member of the National International Financial Centre Authority board of directors.
Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen announced the establishment of the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Committee comprising of eleven members chaired by Emile N. Arao.
The members included Mathias Ombasa, Ali Mwinyi, Dr. Micharl O. Aomo, Gad Kamau, Lt. Col. Ali Ibrahim Boru and John Churchill Omondi.
Others were Francis Ndeleva, Capt. Alan Aluvale, Col. (Rtd) Imamo Kalu Gulei, Alfred G. Wagura and Capt. Kennedy Shamala Teka.
Furthermore, the members will serve for three years effective December 15,2023.
Energy CS Davis Chirchir appointed Magerer Langat, Jospeh Ngugi Njenga and Amina Bille as members of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya Board board.
The appointments will run for three years with effect from December 15, 2023.
“The appointments of Elizabeth Rogo, Peter Ngugi Kimani and Abdulrizak Ali are revoked,” directed Chirchir.
Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi appointed Dr. Elloy Okoth Otieno, Dr. Irene Kamanja Thiguku and Edwin Samuel Wasiche as members of the Council of Veterinary Medicines Directorate for a period of three years effective from the date of announcement.
Environment CS Soipan Tuya named Dr. Fancy C. Too as the Chairperson of the National Environmental Complaints Committee for a period of three years effective December 15, 2023.
CS Peninah Malonza appointed Leah J. Sambai to be the member of the National Drought Management Authority.

Education Ministry Appointments
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu named Dr. Langat Christopher Andrew as a member of the Council for University Education (CUE).
Also, the CS appointed Beatrice Cherotich Bii to be a member of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority.
He named Christopher Oanda, Gideon Koske, Brenda Kokoti Lubisia and Charles N. Njenga as members of the Council of Egerton University.
Equally, Machogu appointed Wilkister M. Simiyu and Dr. Ole Lemen Korei as members of the Council of Kibabii University and Laikipia University respectively.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) (a) of the Universities Act , the CS Education appoints Dr. Idris Muhumud Kosar to be the Chairperson of the Council of Kirinyanga University for a period of three years, with effect from the 15th December 2023,” read the notice in parts.
Again, the CS appointed Dr. Humphrey Kimani Njuguna as the Chairperson of the Council of Moi University.
Prof. Clara Saamiji Momanyi and Christopher Khaemba were named members of the Moi University Council.
Notably, all the appointments in the education sector are for a period of three years and effective from December 15, 2023.
In addition, Mining and Blue Economy CS Salim Mvurya made several appointments to the Artisanal Mining Committee in various counties.
