The chairman of President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors David Ndii on Sunday, July 16 engaged in an online exchange of words with NARC Kenya Party leader Martha Karua over pre-election events.
In his statement, Dr. Ndii claimed that LInda Katiba received funding from William Ruto before 2022 polls.
“Time for revelations. Linda Katiba was formed by Martha and I with Ruto support. Martha was then prospect for WSR running mate. Made full disclosure which is why Makau Mutua was attacking me. Even paid Boniface from WSR campaign money,” wrote Ndii.
However, in a quick rejoinder, Martha Karua called out the economist saying she was disappointed he had joined the ‘ranks of unmitigated liars.’
Karua further denied Ndii’s claims that they received funding from Dr. William Ruto during their collaboration in Linda Katiba.
“I am disappointed you have joined the ranks of unmitigated liars. Throughout our collaboration in Lindakatiba you never disclosed any funding from William Ruto or anybody else,”Karua’s statement reads.
“We contributed for our expenses until towards the end when we secured funding from a philanthropist. If at all William Ruto funded, you it was your own private affair,” she added.

Moreover, this brawl between the two leaders began when twitter user @McOsedoh commented about Boniface Mwangi’s exchange with economist Ndii over President Ruto’s move to lift the ban on logging.
“Can’t believe Bonny and Ndii were once in a group called Linda Katiba fighting fiercely for the rule of law and constitutionalism. How Ndii joined the mutilators of the 2010 Constitution is still unbelievable. Power corrupts,” the user wrote.
Linda Katiba Movement
A group of activists and politicians formed Linda Katiba movement to fight constitutional change through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in 2021.
NARC Party leader Martha Karua, Economist David Ndii and activist Boniface Mwangi were active members of the Linda Katiba movement then.
Additionally, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his foe-turned ally Raila Odinga spearheaded the push to change the 2010 constitution.
William Ruto who was the then deputy president opposed the plan to make changes to the constitution and supported the Linda Katiba initiative.
“I agreed to collaboration with William Ruto limited to opposing the constitution. Later when William Ruto through his people and later himself I made it clear that I could not work with him,” Karua explained.
Furthermore, in response, Ndii revealed that Karua was a potential running mate for the UDA party leader in the 2022 General Election.

“For whatever its worth, let me remind the Iron Lady that in run up to 2017, I approached her to join what became NASA and she said she couldn’t work with Raila, citing 2007, same reasons as what they are doing together today,” Ndii recalled.
