Former Sol Generation artist and multi-award-winning artist, Benson Muia popularly known as Bensoul, has released his much-anticipated masterpiece: The Party & The After Party album.
This is Bensoul’s second solo album since leaving Sol Generation, following his first album, ‘Lion of Sudah,’ which was released on April 20, 2023.
In an interview, he described the album as a musical journey that mirrors the experience of attending multiple parties.
“Listening to the album from start to finish feels like going through different parties and coming back to the first one,” he said.
The 15-track album has appeared on over 300,000 Spotify playlists in the past year with 57% of his audience being male while 40% are female listeners.
In addition, younger adults take the lead as part of his key audience with about 33% of his listeners aged between 23-27. In terms of numbers, and those aged between 18-22 years old come in second.
Bensoul Music on Spotify
Bensoul’s music has attracted listeners from all walks of life over the years with countries in Africa, Europe and the United States streaming his music on Spotify in the last 28 days.
Some the countries include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and Australia.
Additionally, some of his songs that topped the charts include Nakufa, Navutishwa, Elevated, Thick Thighs and Nairobi which he has featured his fellow musician Mejja.

First Album Launch
The songwriter launched his first album dubbed ‘Lion of Sudah’ on April 20, 2023, at the Alchemist in Westlands.
Like the second album, the first also had a total of 15 songs with collaborations with stars like: Bayanni, Bien, Savara, Fancy Fingers, Wanavokali, and Juma Jux.
Other superstars featured in Bensoul’s album are Muthaka, Lavosti, Hornsphere, AfroNautiq, Xenia Manasseh, Charisma, H_art the Band’s Mordecai Dex, and Okello Max.
Fans and celebrities came out in large numbers to support the singer as he unveiled his 15-track album.
Bensoul strategically released his album on April 20, 2023, featuring a song titled “4:20” to highlight the occasion.

The celebrity filled event saw a couple of his colleagues in the industry attend including stars like Sauti Sol’s Bien, Sol Generation Manager Nanjero, PR Guru Anyiko Awoko, Nviiri the Storyteller and Muthoni the Drummer Queen.
Others in attendance included TikToker Ajib Gathoni, Manasseh Nyagah, MC Gudah Man, Iyanii, Kiss FM’s Nimrat Kaur, Homeboyz Radio’s Quellie Odero, Sammy Boy, Mordecai Dex, Okello Max, Muthaka and Xenia Manasseh among others.
Exit from Sol Generation
Bensoul left Sol generation in early 2023 citing the need to explore on his own following the lessons he gathered under the wings of the Sauti Sol training program.
In a past interview, he disclosed that he would leave the label to establish his own empire dubbed ‘Lion of Sudah’.
“Considering everything that I have learned at Sol Generation I feel like I’m ready to handle my own empire and make sure I take care of other artistes on the way.
“I feel like I’m in a better place and I really want to be on my own- work on my life, my career, and everything,” Bensoul said.
