The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued five directives to Kenyans in its weather forecast for the week of February 25 to March 3, 2025. Kenya Met warned that the maximum average daytime temperatures will exceed 30°C over several parts of the country.
This excludes regions in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Central Rift Valley and parts of South Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands and Lake Victoria Basin where temperatures are likely to be below 30°C.

As temperatures rise, the weatherman told Kenyans to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Kenyans have been advised to limit outdoor activities especially during the peak heat hours (10 AM – 4 PM).

Additionally, Kenyans are directed to dress light; wear loose and breathable clothing.
They should also keep indoors cool and all ventilate rooms.

People must also check on vulnerable groups who need extra care including the elderly, children, and those with health conditions.
The average minimum night-time temperature will be less than 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley and around Mount Kilimanjaro.
Mainly sunny, dry and hot weather conditions expected to prevail over most parts of the country.
However, occasional light rainfall may be experienced over isolated areas around Mount Kenya, the Coastal region, Tana River and Taita Taveta counties (areas bordering the Coast).
Lake Victoria, Central & South Rift Weather Forecast
Days are expected to be mainly sunny with scattered clouds while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
Counties in these regions include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties.
North & West Rift Valley
Days are expected to be mainly sunny with scattered clouds while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
This includes Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo and West-Pokot counties.
Turkana & Samburu Counties
Sunny conditions are expected during the day while nights are expected to be clear though some nights may have partly cloudy conditions.
Strong south-easterly winds of more than 25 Knots (12.9 m/s) are expected in parts of Turkana County.

Nairobi & it Environs
Sunny conditions are expected during the day with scattered clouds with partly cloudy nights.
However, a few areas around Mount Kenya may experience light afternoon showers during the second half of the forecast period.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi.
North-Eastern
Counties in this region will experience mainly sunny conditions during the day while nights are expected to be clear though some nights may have partly cloudy conditions.
Improved cloud cover is, however, expected in Garissa during the day.
Strong south-easterly winds of more than 25 Knots (12.9 m/s) are expected in parts of Marsabit County.
Counties in this region include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo.

South-Eastern Lowlands
Similarly, days are expected to be mainly sunny with scattered clouds while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
However, a few areas in Taita Taveta and Tana River counties bordering the Coast may experience light morning rain towards the end of the forecast period.
The region covers Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.
Coast
Mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day with the possibility of a few areas receiving occasional light morning showers towards the end of the forecast period.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.
Counties in this area include Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County.
