The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) also known as Kenya Met has published the weather outlook for the period between October 29 and November 4, 2024.
In the Forecast published on Monday, October 28, Kenya predicted that six regions will receive rainfall this week while the other parts will be dry.

The Weatherman told Kenyans to expect some rainfall over the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and Northeastern Kenya.
“The rest of the country will be mostly sunny and dry,” Kenya Met said.

Regions including North-eastern, North-western, SE Lowlands, and much of the country will experience mainly sunny and dry conditions.
Kenya Met also predicted cols nights during the week and issued a daytime heat alert.

According to the Weatherman, high daytime temperatures of over 30°C is expected in areas like the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
“Keep cool and stay hydrated!” Kenya Met warned.
On the other hand, the Weatherman forecasted cool nights with nighttime temperatures dropping below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley.
“Prepare for cooler nights,” the Weatherman said.
This follows the forecast for October-November-December (OND) 2024 short-rains season released on October 28.

October to December Weather Forecast
Kenya Met said the OND season is an important rainfall season especially for the Central and Eastern regions.
The Weatherman said highest seasonal rainfall amounts above 700mm are normally recorded over the Central highlands.
Kenya Met has predicted slightly above average rainfall in the Western parts of Kenya and near to below average rainfall for the central parts of the country and isolated areas over northeast and southeastern lowlands.
Additionally, the Coastal region, most of the Northeast and most of the Southeastern lowlands are expected to receive below average rainfall.

Kenya Met anticipates poor rainfall distribution across several parts of the country, marked by prolonged dry spells and occasional isolated storms.
It predicts warmer-than-average temperatures in most areas, except for a few in the western sector, where maximum and minimum temperatures should remain near normal.
The central and eastern regions are likely to experience a higher probability of warmer-than-average temperatures.
Rainfall Per Region
The Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, and Central and South Rift Valley areas are expected to receive rainfall with occasional dry spells throughout the season.
Northwestern counties will likely see occasional rainfall, near to slightly above the long-term seasonal average.
Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, are projected to experience rainfall with intermittent dry spells.
Meanwhile, northeastern counties—Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, and eastern parts of Marsabit—are expected to receive occasional rainfall throughout the season.
