The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released a seven-day weather forecast for the period between March 4 to March 10, 2025, stating that dry conditions are likely to end soon. Kenya Met also announced that sunny, dry and hot weather conditions are mainly expected to prevail over most parts of the country.
“Mainly sunny, dry, and hot weather conditions are expected to prevail over most parts of the country,” read the statement.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be high (above 30°C) in several parts of the country except over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Central Rift Valley and parts of South Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands and the Lake Victoria Basin where temperature is likely to be below 30°C.
Detailed Regional Rainfall Forecast Issued by Kenya Met
However, according to Kenya Met occasional rainfall is likely, towards the end of the forecast period in some parts of the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley, the Coastal Region, the South-eastern Lowlands, and isolated areas in Northeast and Northwest.

In the seven-day weather forecast, the weatherman stated that The Highlands East of the Rift Valley region including Nairobi County, mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day.
Other counties within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region that is Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are also expected to experience sunny intervals.

However, Kenya Met announced that a few areas are likely to receive morning rains and afternoon showers towards the end of the forecast period.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas may experience showers towards the end of the forecast period.
The weatherman warned that the maximum average daytime temperatures will exceed 30°C while night temperatures will fall as low as 10°C minimum.
In the regions of The Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day.
Counties within this region include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia,Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok.
However, a few to several areas are likely to experience morning rains and afternoon showers and thunderstorms towards the end of the forecast period. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas may experience showers towards during the same period.
The average minimum night-time temperature will be as low as 13°C with daytime temperatures expected to rise up to 30°C.
Weather forecast for Other Regions
In the South-eastern lowlands covering Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County, Kenya Met predicts that the regions are expected to experience mainly sunny intervals during the day.
A few areas are likely to experience morning rains and afternoon showers towards the end of the forecast period.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy though a few areas may receive showers during the same period.

The Coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana River are expected to experience daylong sunny intervals.
Kenya Met said that some areas will experience afternoon and night showers towards the end of the forecast period.
At the same time, KMD said that sunny conditions are expected during the day in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana and Samburu counties while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
Strong south-easterly winds of more than 25 Knots (12.9 m/s) are expected in parts of Marsabit County.
