A serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces has been exposed for secretly helping the Ukrainian military by giving away the positions of his own unit, leading to one of the deadliest single losses for Russian troops in recent weeks.
According to a report by the Ukrainian defence outlet Militarnyi, the soldier served in the 102nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division.
While still deployed, he transmitted the locations of Russian troops, equipment positions, and movement routes to the Ukrainian side.
In interviews given to Dmytro “Apostol” Karpenko, the serviceman said the information he supplied resulted in the deaths of up to 150 Russian soldiers and injuries to about 50 others.
Russian Struggles Exposed
The soldier is a 19-year-old from Novosibirsk, who was called up for military service despite being enrolled at a higher education institution.
After mobilisation, he signed a contract believing this would allow him to continue his studies and qualify for officer training as an ensign.
Instead, he was sent directly to the war zone, initially posted with the 150th Motorized Rifle Division in Novocherkassk.
He was later transferred to the 102nd Motorized Rifle Regiment, where he was assigned to the Second Motorized Rifle Battalion.
Within the unit, he was appointed a UAV operator despite lacking proper training.
According to his account, such appointments were common due to personnel shortages and time pressure.

The regiment operated in the direction of Sofiivka and Volodymyrivka.
During this period, the soldier first established contact with Ukrainian forces through the “I Want to Live” project, a programme used by Russian servicemen seeking communication or surrender options.
From Russia to Ukraine
After initial contact, the soldier said he made a deliberate decision to harm the Russian army.
Ukrainian representatives advised him to contact Dmytro “Apostol” Karpenko, who runs a structured programme for leaking intelligence on Russian Armed Forces positions, equipment, and movements.
For approximately 80 days, the soldier supplied Apostol’s programme with coordinates of personnel concentrations, equipment locations, and movement routes of units belonging to the 102nd regiment.
The information was transmitted almost in real time, with delays of 10 to 15 minutes.
According to the serviceman, Ukrainian strikes based on the data destroyed at least two Russian tanks and struck multiple launch rocket systems.

In addition, four UAV crews and four mortar crews were destroyed.
He estimated the total losses at around 150 killed and about 50 wounded.
The intelligence he provided enabled Ukrainian forces to disrupt Russian advances even after commanders altered routes and operational plans.
He said new routes were also struck after being brought into use.
Despite suspicions within the unit that information was leaking, the Russian command was unable to identify the source.
During the same period, the soldier continued performing duties as a UAV operator, logging approximately 1,200 flight hours. The work was carried out under difficult conditions, including low temperatures, limited supplies, and constant operational pressure.
The serviceman stated that units of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division routinely used so-called “meat assault” tactics, involving repeated infantry attacks with high expected casualties.
After several failed attempts to leave, the soldier eventually crossed over to Ukrainian positions. He covered approximately 20 kilometres on foot under difficult conditions before being evacuated by Ukrainian forces.
Following the transfer, he confirmed his intention to continue serving on the Ukrainian side as part of the Russian Volunteer Corps.
Separately, Ukrainian sources recently reported the exposure of a double agent who leaked information on the use of Ukrainian drones in the Kharkiv region.
