The Teachers Service Commission has announced mass internship opportunities for teachers in junior secondary schools countrywide.
In a notice dated Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Commission called on qualified candidates to apply for 24,000 internship posts. According to TSC, these positions aim to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya.
“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 24,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum,” read part of the notice.
TSC Announces Internship Opportunities
Additionally, the notice highlighted the requirements candidates must meet to apply for the internship opportunities. To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Must be a holder of at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching Subjects in KCSE or its equivalent.
- Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission. For equivalent qualifications, applicants are advised to visit the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke.
Guidelines to be followed by Applicants
Applicants are further advised to take note of the following guidelines:
- The Teachers Service Commission’s Guidelines for Recruitment of Teacher Interns for the 2025/2026 Financial Year shall apply.
- Manual applications will not be considered.
- Be unemployed and have no record of exiting teaching service with the Commission due to disciplinary reasons.
- Candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates.
- Must have a Personal Accident Insurance cover for personal risks during the internship period.
- Selection of candidates will be strictly on merit and based on the number of vacancies per county.
- Successful candidates must not fill more than one internship offer.
- Successful candidates will be posted to serve in any junior school in the sub-county where they were interviewed or in any part of the county where the vacancy exists.
- Successful candidates shall be required to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.
How to Apply
During verification, applicants shall be required to produce the following: –
- A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher.
- A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) card (where applicable).
- A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport. 4. Two (2) colour passport-size photographs.
- A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
According to TSC, interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under “Careers” or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, no later than midnight of September 9, 2025.

The application portal will be open from Tuesday, 26th August 2025, and will close on Monday, 9th September 2025, at midnight.
The Junior School Teacher Interns will support the implementation of CBC in Junior Schools.
The internship will run for twelve (12) months.
