Drama unfolded at the funeral of late media personality Njambi Koikai, also known as Fyah Mummah, held at Lang’ata Cemetery on June 14, 2024.
The ceremony, attended by hundreds of reggae fans, took a chaotic turn when a reggae song was played, and the crowd started dancing.
Footage seen by The Kenya Times shows fans crowding near her grave site, chanting reggae slogans as Njambi’s casket was being transported to the grave site.
Some mourners climbed trees trying to get to higher ground and watch as Njambi was being laid to rest.
Amid the commotion, a shirtless man was seen shouting amidst the ensuing chaos, further adding to the dramatic scene.

Mbusii Makes Appeal to the Crowd
Popular Radio host Mbusii can be heard saying “Warasta, tupatie mama Njambi respect, tutulie hivyo hivyo, tupatie Fyah Mammah respect tumalize shughuli.”

Despite the emcee’s pleas to calm down and make way for Njambi’s mother, the crowd remained unruly and determined to pay their final respects to their beloved reggae queen.
The security team formed a protective barrier around the family members, shielding them from the pushing and shoving crowd.
Njambi Koikai Passes
Njambi passed away early Tuesday, June 4, 2024, following a long battle with endometriosis.
Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba broke the news about the passing on of Njambi in a statement on June 4.
Throughout her life, she documented her experience with the disease, raising awareness for endometriosis
Senator Orwoba Pays Tribute to Njambi Koikai
During the funeral service, Njambi was honored by Senator Gloria Orwoba who described her as a kind and revolutionary person.
Orwoba, who was a close friend of Njambi, shared her personal experience with the reggae queen highlighting her passion for changing lives.

“Njambi lived for a reason, she was passionate about changing lives,” Orwoba said.
“A lot of young girls will benefit from Njambi’s movement.”
Additionally, in her tribute the senator emphasized that Njambi was not just an influencer but a movement, wielding strength and influence over people.
The senator disclosed that the office of the First Lady was planning to establish an endometriosis centre, inspired by Njambi’s influence.
“What I learnt from Njambi is no matter how small one is, everyone has a purpose in this life. Even in death, Njambi’s legacy lives on,” she said.
