Comedian Eric Omondi has offered to help content creator Stephen Bhingi after his house was destroyed by floods following an overnight heavy downpour.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, Bhingi recorded his predicament showing his followers how much the raging waters had damaged his house and property.
From the clip, one can see majority of Bhingi’s items soaked in the water inside the house as he confirmed it was still raining outside.
He further highlighted the challenges that most residents of Nairobi are facing due to poor drainage.
“Hii ndio mashida tunapitia mani, hebu oneni keja jo.” Loosely translating to, these are the challenges we are facing, take a look at my house.
“Chekini jo, real life. Huku ni keja na usiku, sijui nifanye aje na mvua bado inanyesha, hard jo,” he lamented. This loosely translates to check this out, this is real life. I’m at my house, it’s still raining, and I don’t know what to do.
In a post on his social media account on April 9, 2024, Eric Omondi made an appeal to Kenyans seeking help to locate the content creator while also vowing to assist and change his life forever.
“Wasn’t he with the president at State House last week? Someone DM me his number. We’re going to relocate him and change his life,” said Omondi.

Stephen Bhingi Rise to Popularity
Stephen Bhingi, is a reggae fanatic whose content revolves around day-to-day interactions and dancing to reggae tunes. His Rasta-inspired TikTok content is what made him gain fame.
The 27-year-old has become popular for his unique style of dressing, comprising an oversized rasta hat, a crocheted rasta-colored scarf, Gideon boots and camouflage pants and jackets.
He was among the creators who were invited for the announcement of the monetization of content on Facebook and Instagram in Kenya.
This allowed him to fulfil his dream of meeting the president as he had earlier teased his followers that he was on his way to statehouse to express the challenges Kenyans are facing due to high cost of living.

Heavy Downpour in the country
The ongoing heavy rains has caused significant impact leading to floods and landslides across various parts of the country.
Floods resulting from the heavy downpour has caused fatalities, displacement, property damage and loss of lives, limited accessibility to roads and damage to infrastructure.
In a recent incident, a Nairobi bound bus carrying 51 passengers was swept by floods even though no casualties were reported.
The Kenya Redcross on April 9 evening confirmed that all the passengers marooned by flood waters following the bus incident were rescued.
“All passengers aboard the bus that was marooned by floodwaters at Arer near Tulla Bridge in Tana River County, have now been rescued, with priority initially given to women, children, and those who were sick,” they noted in a statement.
