Ruto Nominates Ex-IEBC Commissioner and 7 Others for State Jobs

President William Ruto has nominated the Vice Chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Those nominated include Boya Molu who served as a commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission – IEBC. 

In a State House dispatch issued on Friday, December 20, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said the move seeks to proactively address the forthcoming vacancies in the offices of the Vice-Chairperson and six Members of the Commission, expected to occur in mid-January 2025, with an additional vacancy anticipated in April 2025.

“To facilitate a seamless transition within the Public Service Commission, the President has today exercised his constitutional prerogative by nominating individuals to serve in the ranks of the membership of the Commission,” reads the dispatch in part.

Ruto named Mary Wanjira Kimonye as the Vice- Chairperson.

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner Boya Molu has been appointed as one of the members of the Commission.

Molu is one of the Commissioners who stood with them Chairperson Wafula Chebukati after the 2022 presidential elections.

Only three out of the seven commissioners support the result while four Led by Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera others rejected them.

Those who supported the results include Chebukati, Molu and Prof Abdi Guliye.

Ruto Picks Former NTSA Director

Ruto has also nominated Francis Meja as a member of the PSC.

Meha served as the Director General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Additionally, Ruto has nominated Francis Otieno Owino. He served as Principal Secretary, Ministry of Industrialization during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.

Others include Harun Maalim Hassan and Mwanamaka Amani Mabruki.

Maalim is CEO of Kenya’s National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).

Mabruki was nominated as one of the 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries in March 2023.

She was to serve in the Ministry of East African Community (EAC), the ASALs, and Regional Development.

Other Nominees

Ruto has also nominated Dr. Irene Cherotich Asienga and Joan Andisi Machayo as PSC members.

Dr. Asienga is currently a government advisor on budgets and fiscal.

She has also worked at the Commission on Revenue Allocation, a senior lecturer and director of Kabarak University, Nairobi Campus.

Machayo is the Alternate Director, representing the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Public Service Commission.

The names have been forwarded to Parliament for consideration and subsequent appointment.
