The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested four people in connection to the death of a grade eight pupil whose body was found lying within the school compound.
DCI through a statement on March 9, 2024, noted that the arrests which include the school’s managers, were made after the detectives launched investigations into the suspected murder of the 13-year-old pupil.
“Detectives in Buruburu, Nairobi are investigating the suspected murder of a 13-year-old pupil at Joy Garden Primary School whose body was found lying dead at a balcony in the school last evening,” read part of the statement.
DCI revealed that the school’s director booked a report at the Buruburu Police Station on March 8, first noting that the pupil was declared missing.
According to the report by the school’s director, the grade eight pupil at the boarding institution was declared missing at 6.30pm when she did not show up for supper.
The director further indicated that this led to a search throughout the school’s eight storey building.

The search, according to the report, took a twist of fate when members of the school stumbled on the pupil’s lifeless body at a 1st floor balcony outside the Director’s office.
Furthermore, detectives indicated that after visiting the scene, police from Buruburu examined the body establishing injuries on it.

However, they established that the injuries on the body were not consistent with a fall from a higher floor as insinuated by the school management.

DCI further divulged that it is from this inconsistency that the four staff members were arrested in order to assist in the investigations.
Among the members arrested include the school’s director, Head Teacher and an Accountant.
In addition, the sleuths noted that the scene had been processed and the body of the deceased moved to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
