The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has announced the regions expected to receive rainfall on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
According to a weather forecast shared on Saturday, February 7, most parts of the country will remain sunny and dry in the next seven days.
However, rainfall is expected in a few areas across the Central Highlands, the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley regions.
“Rainfall is likely to occur in a few areas of the Central Highlands (including Nairobi), the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley,” read a statement.
Kenya Met Weather Predictions
According to the weatherman, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley are expected to receive rainfall, with sunny intervals in the forecast period.

Counties within these regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans-Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties.
Additionally, some areas in the central highlands, including Nairobi, are also set to receive rainfall and experience cold temperatures at night.
Counties in the central highlands are Nyeri, Thika, Meru, Murang’a, Nanyuki, Nyahururu, and Nairobi.
February Weekly Weather Forecast
Earlier this week, Kenya Met issued a seven-day weather forecast for the first week of February, highlighting other regions expected to receive rainfall, as most regions are expected to experience dry, sunny weather throughout the week.
“Most parts of the country are expected to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is likely to occur in a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley,” read part of the forecast report.

The North-western part of Kenya, which includes areas like Turkana and Samburu Counties, was expected to have sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night, while the North-eastern part of Kenya, including areas like Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties, was predicted to experience sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
The weatherman also stated that hot conditions were expected during the daytime, with maximum temperatures above 30°C expected in several parts of the country, including the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
During the night, cool temperatures were expected, with a minimum temperature below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
