Roots Party presidential candidate Professor George Wajackoyah has insisted that he should be paired with the two candidates considered top contenders for the presidency by opinion polls.
In his statement, Wajackoyah said he would only attend the Presidential debate slotted for Tuesday, July 26 if he will join Azimio la Umoja’s candidate Raila Odinga and Kenya Kwanza’s flag bearer William Ruto.
“Those who are conducting the Presidential debate are quacks. Why would they come up with these opinion polls? When at first my score was zero then when I told them to go to hell on the presidential debate all of a sudden I had 5%? ” Wajackoyah paused.
In video footage seen by The Kenya Times, Wajackoyah said he does not subscribe to the recent opinion polls that state who among the four presidential candidates is likely to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after the August 9 polls.
“Those are opinion polls without foundation and they are here to mislead Kenyans and I am here to join the Deputy President in denouncing them,” Wajackoyah stated adding that he only agrees with DP Ruto on the matter of opinion polls.
The Roots Party flag bearer further said that the organisers of the presidential debate never asked any of the four candidates which companies or agencies the presidential aspirants would be satisfied with when it came to conducting opinion polls.
“Now we are being told that if your score is 5% and below, you cannot tally with the rest during the Presidential debate. In the US, all presidential candidates appear at the same time in the debate. UK the same, Canada the same,” Wajackoyah argued.
He further stated that Kenya is a land of mediocrity where faces he did not name come in during such times to devide the masses.
“Kenya is the only land of mediocre who come to divide. I am not attending the presidential debate, and I am telling Kenyans unless I am paired with Ruto and Raila. They can go and do what they want, I will not be attending,” Wajackoyah said.
