Migori County residents are worried over the increasing rate of insecurity in the region.
According to reports by Citizen Digital, the cases of insecurity especially during dawn are on the rise in Suna West and Awendo Sub Counties.
“We are concerned about the state of security since our children report to school early in the morning,” a parent said.
Moreover, the area Kenya National Parents Association representative Peter Odondi Giyo stated that several dawn attacks have been reported recently.
As such parents are scared their school going children could be targeted in the morning attacks.
“Recently, the county has recorded cases of killings and muggings that mostly occur in the morning hours. Some children come from far flung areas and are forced to leave home early,” Odondi reported.

Additionally, the area Kenya National Parents Association representative noted that they are in talks with schools to release learners early to prevent such cases in the evening.
Likewise, the county education director Jacob Onyiego has promised to take the issue up with the ministry.
“Teachers should not force learners to report so early. It should be within the expected time as advised by the ministry,” Onyiego said
Nonetheless, Migori county police commander Mark Wanjala has said they are trailing suspects believed to be part of the gang that has been terrorizing the county residents.
