President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sister, Kristina Wambui Pratt has been awarded the Honorary Degree of Humane Letters by Kenyatta University.
Pratt received the Honoris causa award during the 51st university’s graduation ceremony held on Friday.
Honoris causa is an award given or awarded without examination.
According to Kenyatta university, Pratt received the degree in recognition of her passion, commitment, and distinguished service to People Living with Disabilities (PWDs).
Pratt has has been involved in numerous special education associations and schools in so many years.

Additionally, she is board member of the Kambui School for the Deaf, Jacaranda School for the Mentally Handicapped and the Kenya Society for the Blind.
Further, she was appointed Ambassador of the Visually Impaired to Africa by UNESCO in 1977.
The President’s sister is also the founder of facilities for the disabled and an ambassador for the visually impaired in Africa.
In 1978, Pratt set up the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) in Kasarani .
The school trains teachers for the blind, hearing impaired and mentally disabled.
Pratt has been involved in numerous charitable activities targeting persons living with disabilities in Kenya including sourcing of mobility devices.
