The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced the training of examiners for Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KISEA).
In a notice on March 4, KNEC said the training will be conducted in the months of March and April 2025.
The training will be conducted first online and later on physically in a residential venue.
Shortlisted trainees will be directed on how to access the online training materials.
The venue for the residential training will be communicated to the qualified trainees later where the exercise will be strictly residential.
Qualified examiners will thereafter be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA assessments using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper.
“The training fee is Ksh10,500 and will only be made by the shortlisted applicants who will be notified on how to make payments through a text message (SMS) and via the application portal,” KNEC said.
Interested and qualified teachers are invited to apply for training in the listed subjects.
These subjects include English (Composition and Literacy Analysis), Kiswahili (Insha na Utangulizi wa Fasihi), Mathematics, Kenyan Sign Language (KSL), Integrated Science Practical, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agriculture and Nutrition Practical, Agriculture, and Home Science.
Additional subjects include History, Geography, Christian Religious Education (CRE), Islamic Religious Education (IRE), Hindu Religious Education (HRE), Art, Music, Physical Health Education (PHE), Computer Studies, Business Studies, Woodwork, Metalwork, and Building and Construction.
Criteria for Training as an Examiner
The general requirements for trainee examiners include:
- Must be a practicing teacher/tutor in the relevant subject areas in the level of examination or above.
- Registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or Public Service Commission.
- Must have a Diploma in Education and above.
- Have a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years.
- Candidates must not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from the TSC/employer.
- Must be recommended by his/her head of Institution.
- Must be 50 years of age and below.
“Tutors from Teachers training colleges and TVET institutions are encouraged to apply for Home science,” KNEC said.

KNEC Application Procedure
Interested applicants are required to Access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.
Those with Cp2 accounts, should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords.
However, those who would have forgotten their Cp2 passwords, should click on reset password button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547********) and submit to get new passwords for logging to the system.
Besides, teachers without Cp2 accounts should click on “create account’ and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system.

Upon successful log in, the applicants will then complete their personal profile and save.
On the dashboard, click on ‘apply for training’ and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose and apply.
“Only qualified teachers who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise on a first-come, first served basis,” the Commission said.
KJSEA will start alongside the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) on October 27, 2025, and end on November 6, 2025.
