The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that applicants for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs will begin reporting to their colleges in May 2026.
In a statement on April 8, KUCCPS also noted that students placed in degree programs will begin joining their respective schools in September.
“Whereas applicants for degree programmes will join universities from September, those applying for TVET programmes will be able to report to their respective colleges starting May, since TVET placement is continuous,” read part of the statement.
The placement body stated that TVET programs are open to candidates who sat KCSE exams between 2000 and 2025 and achieved grades from A to E.
On the other hand, the minimum requirement for application to degree programs remains C+ (plus).
For degree programs at the Open University of Kenya, applicants must have scored C+ and above in KCSE during the same period.
KUCCPS TVET and Degree Programs
KUCCPS added that the Commission for University Education (CUE) has approved 322,396 university placements for degree programs, while middle-level colleges have a combined capacity of 1,132,531 for diplomas, certificates, artisan courses, and other TVET levels.
According to the KUCCPS statement, Secondary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) have 2,480 slots available.
Further, the placement body plans to deploy officers to universities and TVET institutions across all counties to assist applicants during the placement period.
