The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has invited applications for the media industrial attachment programme targeting university students pursuing journalism and communication-related courses.
In a statement on March 30, MCK confirmed its partnership with recognised media houses for the announced media industrial attachment programme.
According to the notice, the industrial attachment will run for three months, from May to July 2026.
The MCK attachment is structured to provide students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for entry into the media and communications job market.
“The Media Council of Kenya (MCK), in partnership with recognised media houses, runs a media industrial attachment programme. The programme is designed to provide journalism and communication students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for the job market,” the council stated.
Participants selected for the programme will be placed in recognised media and communication outlets nationwide.
Further, the placements will cover key areas, including print, broadcast (radio and television), technical and production roles, and digital content creation.
All applications must be submitted by midnight on April 8, 2026, in accordance with the timeline set by the council.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
According to the MCK notice, the programme is open to students pursuing degree or diploma courses in journalism, media studies, communications, digital communication, and corporate communication.

In addition, the council listed the following requirements for applicants;
- Final-year students who need a credit unit or are undergraduates from a recognised university or college.
- A recommendation letter from the university or college, issued within the last two months, indicating the period for which the placement is required.
- Academic transcripts for the current academic year.
- Valid student identification card.
“Media Council of Kenya does not solicit payment to process or recruit through agents or agencies,” the body noted.
The Media Council also advised the students that no payments are needed, stating that ‘the Media Council of Kenya does not solicit payment to process or recruit through agents or agencies’.

How to Apply for MCK Attachment
According to MCK, applicants must submit their applications via the official online portal of the Media Council of Kenya at https://bit.ly/43KSFPL, making sure all requested details are filled out accurately.
The process involves uploading the necessary supporting documents in the specified format and labelling the submission with the subject line “Industrial Attachment Application – May–July 2026”.
Candidates are advised to review their applications carefully to confirm that all information is complete and correct before submission.
