Members of the public can hire the Kenya Police Band for private functions, including weddings, graduations, and corporate gatherings.

In a statement on April 7, the Kenya Police said the service, offered through official police channels, gives event organizers access to the band’s disciplined performances and long‑standing musical tradition.

“Did you know? You can hire the Kenya Police Band for your private functions, which include weddings, graduations, and corporate events,” stated the Kenya Police.

According to the police, booking charges typically range between KSh 40,000 and KSh 60,000, depending on the nature and requirements of the event.

How to hire the Kenya Police Band

The band falls under specialized/auxiliary services, so final pricing is confirmed after you submit a formal request. This  is how you can hire the Kenya Police Band for your private functions:

Step 1: Prepare All Your Event Details

Before starting the application process, organize all the information required by the National Police Service.

This information helps the police assess availability, logistics, and cost. You should have the exact date and time of your event, the full venue address, the type of function you are hosting, and how long you need the band to perform.

If you already know the approximate number of band members you require, include that as well.

Any special requests, such as specific songs, performance styles, or a marching display, should also be noted.

Finally, prepare your full personal details, including your name, phone number, email address, and ID number, as these are mandatory.

Step 2: Apply Online Through the NPS eCitizen Portal (Recommended Option)

The fastest and most efficient way to hire the Kenya Police Band is through the National Police Service eCitizen portal. Begin by visiting https://nps.ecitizen.go.ke/ and logging into your eCitizen account.

If you do not have an account, create one at accounts.ecitizen.go.ke. Once logged in, locate the service labeled Hire of Police Security Services.

Download the official form titled Request for Hire of Police Security Services and complete it carefully. In the section that asks for the nature of service required, clearly state that you are requesting a Kenya Police Band performance and include all the event details you prepared earlier.

Upload any supporting documents, submit the form, and print the acknowledgment receipt generated by the system.

After submission, the relevant police or band office will reach out to confirm availability and share further instructions.

Apply In Person at a Police Station (Alternative Method)

For those who prefer a physical application or have specialized requests, an in-person application is also accepted.

Visit your nearest police station with a formal written request addressed to the Inspector General of the National Police Service or the Officer Commanding the Kenya Police Band.

The letter should clearly outline all event details and service requirements. Attach copies of your identification and any documents related to the event, such as an invitation card or program.

The police station will forward your request to the appropriate band command for review, approval, and costing.

Step 3: Follow Up, Make Payment, and Confirm the Booking

The Police Band office may contact you for clarification, schedule a meeting, or send an official quotation.

Once approved, payment is made through the indicated official channel, usually via eCitizen or an authorized National Police Service bank account.

After payment is completed, you will receive a formal confirmation letter detailing the band’s deployment, reporting time, and arrival arrangements for your event.
