The National Police Service Referral Hospital is set for commissioning.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is on Friday set to commission the Level 4 hospital along Raila Odinga Road near Kenyatta National Hospital.
Already,NPS has posted a total of 67 police officers to the newly constructed Level 4 facility
The 130-bed capacity facility is a product of a welfare fund contributed by police officers from the Administration Police.
According to NPS ,the officers posted to the facility have medical backgrounds.
The Sh 2 billion referral hospital will provide services to police officers and their dependents.
Interiors CS Fred Matiang’i says the hospital will provide specialized treatment, including confidential professional counselling, trauma healing and psycho-social support.
“It will work closely with the Police Airwing for evacuations and boost evidence gathering in rape and assault cases,” he said.
The police department joins the Kenya Defence Forces and Kenya Prisons Service to won forces run hospitals.
On the same day, President Uhuru will also to commission the police leadership academy and 210 housing units in Ngong.
The Central bank of Kenya funded the construction of Kenya Police Leadership Academy at a cost of Sh1 billion.
It will provide officers with modern facilities for the training of senior National police leadership.
It has accommodation for 220, lecture rooms, a modern auditorium with seating for 450, kitchen and dining facilities and recreational facilities.
