The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is seeking to fill several temporary positions for the upcoming by-elections.
The roles include Ward-Based Voter Educators and Constituency Voter Educators, and Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers.
Additionally, the commission is recruiting and Support Electoral Trainers (SET), and Polling and Counting Clerks.
IEBC Announces Temporary Vacancies for Voter Educators and Polling Clerks
The commission has set the deadline for applications on April 4, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
Wages
The IEBC stated that Presiding Officers will be paid Ksh 2,000 per day, while Deputy Presiding Officers will receive Ksh 1,800 per day.
Meanwhile, Support Electoral Trainers will earn Ksh 2,000 per day, and Polling and Counting Clerks will be paid Ksh 1,000 per day.

Ward-Based Voter Educator
- Minimum Diploma in Social Sciences/Education/Project Management:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in voter/civic education, community mobilization, and social work within the Ward/Constituency/County applied for;
- Residents in the constituency/Ward in which they apply for;
- Must be able to speak the main language of communication used by residents of the constituency/Ward;
- Must be non-partisan with exceptional understanding and knowledge of socio-cultural, economic, and political dynamics of the constituency/ward;
- Proof of having successfully conducted voter/civic education activities or informal training with existing networks within the Ward/Constituency/County; and
- Proven report writing skills

Constituency Voter Educators
- Minimum Diploma in Social Sciences/Education/Project Management:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in voter/civic education, community mobilization, and social work within the Ward/Constituency/County applied for;
- Residents in the constituency/Ward in which they apply for;
- Must be able to speak the main language of communication used by residents of the constituency/Ward;
- Must be non-partisan with exceptional understanding and knowledge of socio-cultural, economic, and political dynamics of the constituency/ward;
- Proof of having successfully conducted voter/civic education activities or informal training with existing networks within the Ward/Constituency/County; and
- Proven report writing skills
Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officer
- A Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- Hold a Degree/Diploma certificate from a recognized institution;
- Computer literate;
- Have effective communication.
- Good report writing skills;
- Ability to manage people, sensitive data, and materials;
- Have skills in data computation;
- Must be available for the entire period of the exercise; and
- Resident in the constituency/Ward in which they apply for;
Support Electoral Trainers
- A Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- Hold a Degree/Diploma certificate from a recognized institution;
- Computer literate;
- Have proven and demonstrated training skills;
- Ability to manage people;
- Must be available for the entire period of the exercise
- Resident in the constituency/Ward in which they apply for;
Polling/ Counting Clerks
- A Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- KCSE Aggregate C- and above;
- Must be of good character and non-partisan;
- Must be available for the entire period of the exercise; and
- Resident of the Constituency/County Assembly Ward in which they are applying.
