The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) has advertised twelve vacancies for the Parliamentary Pupillage Programme. In an advertisement on Thursday, August 8, the PSC invited applications from students at the Kenya School of Law (KSL) as required in legal education.
“Parliament of Kenya is one of the institutions set out in the Council of Legal Education (Admission) Regulations, 2007 as an institution in which students at the Kenya School of Law may undertake their Pupillage Programme,” read the notice.
The PSC stated that the pupillage programme will be for a period of six months starting in January 2025.
“The Parliamentary Service Commission now seeks to engage twelve (12) highly motivated Kenyans to undertake their Pupillage Programme with the Parliament of Kenya for a period of six (6) months commencing January 2025,” the PSC said.
PSC Requirements & Qualifications
The successful pupils must possess at least a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree (Upper Second-Class Honors) from a recognized university and be computer literate.
Interested applicants must be admitted to the Kenya School of Law ATP Academic year 2024/2025 and be sitting for the Kenya School of Law exams in November 2024.
Additionally, pupils must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili, as evidenced by a score of at least a “B” plain grade in both subjects.

They must also demonstrate a proactive attitude and willingness to learn and be part of a team handling challenging tasks within specific timelines.
Besides, the PSC explained that applicants must complete the Parliamentary Service Commission Job Application Form (Form 1J).
The form can be downloaded from www.parliament.go.ke or obtained from the Commission reception desk at the Ground Floor, County Hall, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, during office hours.
“Applications from applicants who do not complete the Parliamentary Service Commission Job Application Form (Form 1J) referred to in this advertisement will not be considered,” the PSC said.

Application Process
The PSC directed interested applicants to submit the completed application via email on or before August 31, 2024.
Applications should be accompanied by a copy of the letter of admission to the Kenya School of Law and certified copies of academic certificates and testimonials.
“The application form and copies of certificates and testimonials shall be emailed as a single PDF file attachment to recruitment.pupils@gmail.com to be received on or before 31st of August 2024. The Parliamentary Service Commission will not accept hard copy applications,” read another part of the advert.
The pupillage programme is an important part of career preparation, helping young professionals gain experience in a real work environment in judicial matters.
It is a mandatory period of practical training for law graduates who wish to be admitted to the bar and practice as advocates.
