The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced paid internship opportunities for graduates under Cohort 9 of the Public Service Internship Program (PSIP) for the 2026/2027 financial year.
In a statement on July 28, PSC stated that the successful applicants will be deployed to government ministries, departments, state agencies, state corporations, and public universities.
“The Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to announce recruitment of interns (Cohort 9) under the PSIP for the Financial Year 2026/2027. The year-long internship program will mainly involve attachment in Ministries, Departments, State Agencies/Corporations and Public Universities,” the commission noted.
According to the PSC, the year-long program is designed to give graduates practical work experience, develop professional skills, and improve their employment, networking, and entrepreneurship prospects.
Notably, PSC stated that the internship program will run for 12 months and is non-renewable, and successful interns will receive a government-determined monthly stipend throughout the internship period.
Upon successfully completing the program, interns will be awarded an internship certificate by the Public Service Commission.
“The interns will be paid a stipend at a rate as determined by the Government,” PSC said.
Eligibility Requirements for PSC Internships
According to the Commission, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university and must have graduated not earlier than 2020.
Candidates are also required to be proficient in computer skills and must not have previously benefited from a similar internship program.
The PSC states that successful interns will be expected to complete duties assigned by their supervisors during the internship period.
Interns will also be required to document the skills they acquire in their respective areas of deployment and actively participate in mentorship activities and any other responsibilities assigned under the program.

Speaking at State House on July 24, Ruto said the government will work with the private sector to establish a framework that incentivizes companies to take on more young people.

“If we can bring our development partners and the private sector together, we should provide every young person graduating from university with an automatic one-year internship through the Next Generation Initiative, backed by the Government of Kenya,” the President said during the launch of the NextGen.Ke program at State House.
Ruto said the government plans to increase the resource pool for the initiative to KSh2 billion next year, with the allocation expected to rise to KSh5 billion as partnerships with development partners expand.
He said the private sector would play a key role by creating more internship opportunities, sharing industry knowledge and mentoring the next generation of Kenyan professionals.
Ruto also directed Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya to work towards increasing internship placements from the current 500 to 10,000 within the next three months.
