The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 20,000 vacant positions for post-primary teachers in Junior schools on permanent and pensionable terms.
In a notice on July 28, the Commission invited qualified candidates to submit applications online through the TSC website before the August 31 deadline.
“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke under “careers” or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke not later than midnight of 31st August,2026,” part of the advertisement notice read.
However, the Commission emphasized that manual applications will not be accepted.
According to the Commission, the successful candidates will serve in Junior Schools across the country as part of efforts to support the implementation of the Competency Based Education (CBE) curriculum.
TSC Teachers Application Requirement
Applicants interested in the positions must be Kenyan citizens, possess at least a diploma in education, and have attained a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Additionally, the candidates must have attained a C+ KCSE grade in two teaching subjects or their equivalent qualifications.
According to the commission, candidates with equivalent qualifications have been advised to visit the Teachers Service Commission’s website.
Candidates must also be registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission, according to the commission.
Interested applicants must align with the TSC guidelines for the 2026/2027 financial year and be unemployed, with no record of exiting the teaching service with the commission on disciplinary grounds.

Teachers Job Expectations
According to the TSC, the applicant will present original and professional certificates to the commission, and selection of candidates will be based on the number of vacancies per county.
Further, applicants have been advised not to fill more than one employment form.
Successful teacher interns will be retained in their sub-counties and placement stations, and the candidates will teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.
As the commission sets the deadline on August 31, the application portal for the 20,000 permanent job vacancies will open on August 18.
People with disabilities (PWDs ) have been encouraged to apply for the vacant positions if they are qualified, as the commission affirms the equal opportunity employment for citizens.
Additionally, the commission has clarified that the recruitment is free, warning applicants of fraudsters offering to assist in the recruitment.
Members of the public have been directed to report fraudulent activities to the nearest TSC office.

How to Apply
To apply for the vacancies, candidates should visit the TSC’s official website or the recruitment portal.
On the website, applicants should navigate to the Careers page for the advertised job vacancies positions under “Vacancies for Post Primary Teacher on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) Terms to Teach Junior Schools – August 2026.”
Applicants who meet the qualifications should then proceed to log in using the TSC credentials and personal details on the Teachers Online portal.
New applicants without an account may be required to create an account for the application process.
During the application process, the candidates will be required to complete the online application form.
According to TSC, on the application form, the candidate will be required to provide their personal information, academic qualifications, professional qualifications, TSC registration details, and current contact information.
Before submitting the application, candidates are advised to review all the information provided for accuracy.
After reviewing the details, applicants can submit their applications and await communication from the commission if successful.
