Kenya Kwanza presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua is optimistic that a win for the coalition in the August 9 polls will save him from the court battles he is facing
Speaking in Kieni, Gachagua claimed that his bank accounts will be unfrozen should he and DP Ruto capture power.
Gachagua’s accounts were frozen in 2020 in case where the state is questioning the source of Sh12.5 billion transacted through his bank accounts.
He promised to build a house in Kieni where he would be meeting locals
The outgoing Mathira member of parliament said his home will have a place where he would be meeting with elders to roast meat and drink while his wife will have a separate place to meet women for porridge drinking sessions.
Gachagua is currently battling corruption cases in court and has accused the state of targeting him politically
On several occasions, he has claimed that he is being persecuted for supporting Deputy President William Ruto.
Ruto has previously defended Gachagua against graft allegations and accused the government of weaponizing and politicizing the war on corruption.
Ruto claimed that the government was using institutions like the EACC and DCI to come up with framed up corruption charges against his supporters
