The Assumption of Office of the President Committee held its inaugural meeting Chaired by Joseph Kinyua on Friday, August 12.
While addressing the press at Harambee House, the committee’s chair, Joseph Kinyua, stated that they will be making periodic updates of the process.
“The date of the swearing in of the president-elect will be declared a public holiday,” Kinyua clarified.
Furthermore, he added that the committee’s mandate will be triggered once IEBC formally announces a president-elect.
Nonetheless, Kinyua reported that the role of the committee is to facilitate handing over process between the outgoing president and the president-elect.
Likewise, the committee will organize security, personnel and facilities as needed for the president-elect.
Similarly, Kinyua added that the Assumption of Office of the President committee will also facilitate briefing of the president-elect by various public officers and organize the swearing in ceremony of the president-elect.
Nonetheless, the meeting by the committee marks the start of the transition process
The meeting was chaired by head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.

Moreover, he stated that the committee is ready for a smooth transition.
“In fidelity with the dictates of our constitution, I have this morning chaired the inaugural meeting of the Assumption of the Office of the President Committee.” Stated Kinyua
