Deputy President William Ruto has been barred from holding his last campaign rally at the Nyayo Stadium.
The Kenya Kwanza coalition was set to stage its last rally at the venue of August 6
Sports Kenya, a body in charge of all public stadia, has written to the UDA party about the decision.
In the letter, Sports Kenya says the venue is booked for another function on the material day.
The letter is addressed to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary general Ms Veronica Maina, and copied to Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, and Principal Secretary Joe Okudo.
“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sport Center- Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between August 5 to 7, 2022. The facility will not be available for their use,” the letter read in part.
UDA had booked the for its last mega rally ahead of the August 9 polls.
The Azimio coalition had also claimed to have booked the venue on the same day.
Earlier on, UDA digital strategist Denis Itumbi had accused the government of trying to cause chaos by granting the venue to both UDA and Azimio
Itumbi published receipts allegedly received from Sports Kenya granting UDA access to the venue
