United Democratic Alliance(UDA) presidential candidate and his running mate will not take part in next week’s debates.
On Friday, UDA campaign secretariat said the decision on whether to attend or not rests with the two.
Secretariat spokesperson Hussein Mohammed said they have advised Deputy president William Ruto against attending the debates
He noted that as a key organizer of the debates, the media had already showed bias towards the UDA candidate.
Hussein cited the recent survey studies by the Media Council of Kenya which showed that Azimio leader Raila Odinga receives more political coverage than DP Ruto.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza coalition will abscond the debates
“The Zubeida Koome ‘is your name Sakaja?’ Quip is a clear indicator of the media bias that Kenya Kwanza has been complaining of.
“The Kenya Kwanza Alliance will not participate in both the Running Mate debate and the Presidential Debate and that is final,” Kuria said in Facebook page post .
The two debates are scheduled for Tuesday, July 19 for running mates and Tuesday, July 26 for presidential candidates.
Both Ruto and Gachagua are yet to make a clear stand on whether they will attend the debates or not.
