Justice Freda Mugambi is a judge of the High Court of Kenya, born in Meru County, and is serving on the three-judge bench handling petitions arising from the impeachment proceedings against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
She gained national attention through her involvement in the impeachment-related petitions first heard by the High Court in October 2024.
During those proceedings, the bench addressed questions of jurisdiction and underscored the constitutional and public interest significance of the case.

Education and Career Background Of Freda Mugambi
Justice Freda Mugambi was appointed to the Judiciary in 2022 and previously served in the Milimani High Court Commercial and Tax Division.
Her academic qualifications include a Doctor of Laws (LLD) from the University of Pretoria, a Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial Law from the University of Birmingham, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Moi University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

Before joining the bench, Freda Mugambi held several roles in legal education and judicial training. These included serving as Deputy Director at the Kenya Judiciary Academy, Director of Examinations at the Council of Legal Education, and as a university lecturer.
