Stephen Letoo is a popular Kenyan journalist and commentator at Citizen TV, part of Royal Media Services. He is from Narok County, Kenya, and is a member of the Maasai community.
Over time, he has become widely known for his work in broadcast journalism and political commentary.
In previous interviews, Letoo revealed that his inspiration for journalism came from veteran journalists Kanze Dena and Edward Kadilo.
Educational Background Of Stephen Letoo
Stephen Letoo completed his primary education at an unnamed school in Kisii County before joining Kabianga High School in Kericho County for his secondary education.
During his time at Kabianga High School, he exhibited early journalistic talent and leadership skills.
He founded the school’s first journalism club and launched a weekly school newsletter titled Kabianga 100.
In addition, Letoo regularly read news during Monday and Friday student assemblies, presenting school updates and announcements to fellow students. These experiences laid a strong foundation for his future career in the media.
After completing high school, Letoo enrolled at the University of Nairobi, where he earned a degree in Media Studies, also commonly referred to as Journalism or Mass Communication in various accounts.
Career Life
Stephen Letoo began his professional journalism career in 2012 as an intern at Citizen TV while still pursuing his university education. After his internship, he joined the Radio Africa Group, working with Kiss TV.
During his time at Kiss TV, Letoo covered several high‑profile national events, including the 2013 General Election, election‑related protests, and the controversial Miguna Miguna deportation incident at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, during which he was reportedly assaulted by plain‑clothes security officers while on assignment.
In 2016, Letoo returned to Citizen TV, where he rose through the ranks to become a senior political reporter, presenter, and commentator.
With over 10 years of experience, his work has focused primarily on national politics, elections, and governance.

His prominence increased significantly during the 2022 General Election, when he served as the lead correspondent covering the Azimio team.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the presidential election results, Letoo received a personal mention from President William Ruto, underscoring the visibility of his election coverage.

Family Life
Although Stephen Letoo has kept most details of his personal life private, he is known to be a family‑oriented individual.
He was married to Winnie Nadupoi, and in 2019, the couple publicly introduced their son, Santino Leylan Letoo.
The marriage later ended in divorce, after which Letoo has largely maintained privacy regarding his personal affairs.
