American rapper Dieuson Octave popularly known as Kodak Black has been ordered to drug rehab for 30 days by a Florida court after he allegedly tested positive for fentanyl while awaiting trial on a drug trafficking charge.
However, Judge Barbara Duffy of Broward County has allowed the artist to remain free until March 7th, so he could perform at the Rolling Loud concert near Los Angeles over the weekend.
Kodak, 25, had missed a court-ordered drug test on the 3rd of February and tested positive on the eighth. He is awaiting trial for a July arrest on a charge of trafficking oxycodone and has pleaded not guilty.
During the hearing that lasted about an hour, Bradford Cohen, the artist’s lawyer, suggested that the lab technician there may have been star-struck and, while at it, mixed up the samples or the paperwork. The lab technician admitted that it was possible.

Since hair tests are accurate and can detect drug use back 90 days compared to the few days urine and blood tests typically capture, the judge suggested a hair test for the singer, but the defense quickly declined the move.
Kodak is not a new face in the courtroom. In 2016, the artist faced a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in South Carolina, and he received a plea bargain in 2021. The charge was reduced to the lesser offense of assault and battery, and he was sentenced to probation
In January 2020, then-President Donald Trump commuted the rapper’s three-year federal prison sentence for falsifying documents used to buy weapons. Black had served about half his sentence. He was arrested in 2019 for making false statements about possessing weapons and was sentenced to almost four years
Black is nominated for the iHeartRadio Music Awards’ hip-hop artist of the year and has sold more than thirty million singles, with massive hits such as “Super Gremlin,” which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 last year.
