Jada Pinkett Smith has come out on the state of her marriage with Will Smith.
In an exclusive clip from her upcoming show with NBC which will air in October 13, Jada Smith revealed that they had separated with Will Smith seven years ago.
Jada said they have lived separate lives since 2016, noting that it was however not a legal divorce.
“I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying,” she stated in the show preview.
When questioned why the two had not divorced, she stated that she had made a promise that they would work things out.

“I just have not been able to break that promise,” she responded.
When questioned why the couple didn’t share this news sooner, Pinkett Smith said they were not ready.
Nonetheless, Smith and Pinkett Smith were married in 1997 and have two children, Jaden and Willow. Also, Smith has another son, Trey, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
The two separated 20 years after they got married in 1997.

Likewise, Jada spoke on the Academy Awards in 2022, where Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on the Oscar stage after Rock made a joke about Jada’s shaved head.
Jada has alopecia, which is a condition that causes hair loss.
“I thought it was a skit, I was like, there’s no way that Will hit him. It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit,” Jada, fifty-two recalled, commenting for the first time in 18 months on the saga.

Jada Smith said that a lot of things had put the strain in her relationship with movie star, Will Smith.
In Jada’s show, the Red Table Talk, she confirmed that she was once romantically involved with singer August Alsina.
In her words, she stated, ” It was a relationship yes, absolutely”
The confession opened the public’s eyes to the cracks in the Smith’s marriage with fans having mixed feelings on the issue.
In September 2023, Jada Smith was under fire again for sharing a special moment with her deceased friend and former classmate Tupac Shakur.

She posted a video of them both lip-synching to will Smith’s Fresh Prince hit single, “Parents Just Don’t Understand” back when they were both in high school.
In the past, will Smith confessed that he struggled with jealousy over Jada Smith’s and Tupac Shakur’s romance stating that it made him feel insecure.
