KRG The Don Defends President Ruto

Musician KRG The Don has defended President William Ruto and his government more than two years since the Kenya Kwanza administration was installed. His endorsement also came in the wake of sharp and widespread criticism from Kenyans who feel that Ruto’s regime has failed on many fronts.

In a video on social media platforms on December 5, KRG said Ruto comes from a humble background and hence understands the people’s needs.

He also said that the president is sober and is in the process of putting things in place soon.

Wale watu ambao wamekuja kutoka background amabayo wamepewa kila kitu ,uyu ni hustler anaelewa street, anajua mambo tena huyu halewi ako sobber 24 hours (There are those from a rich background, but this one is a hustler who is sobber and understands the street),” said the rapper.

Be patient, things will look up

He went on to say that he is also feeling the pinch of the country’s economic state as a businessman but has found ways to survive the tough economic times.

Ata sisi tunateseka kwa sababu ata sisi kuna bishara tulikua tunafanya miaka mbili tatu zimepita na zimefilisika kwa sababu watu hawana pesa ya kuspend but tumeweza kujimudu. – We are also suffering as some businesses we used to do a few years back have run broke because people have no money to spend, but we are able to make ends meet,” stated KRG.

Current State of the Nation

Ruto succeeded retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 after beating Raila Odinga in a hotly contested presidential election.

Since ascending to power, he has confronted numerous challenges with growing voices of dissent. In June 2024, Gen Z protests almost toppled Ruto, with a march to Parliament, before protesters set a section of the House on fire.

Ruto is also an eyesore in the eyes of Kenyans for his leadership style and adopting punitive tax measures that have pushed the cost of living through the roof.

Critics have also accused Ruto of being obsessed with 2027 reelection and not fixing the current situation.
