After announcing on Twitter that she would only be collaborating with a select few artists for the rest of the year, musician Brandy Maina faced backlash from netizens who accused her of pride.
In response, she took to her Instagram stories to explain her decision and defend herself against trolls who she felt didn’t understand the dynamics of the music industry.

Brandy argued that those criticizing her were not artists and therefore didn’t comprehend that, as an artist, it was essential to focus on solo projects, which would matter the most in the long run. She maintained that collaborations required significant amounts of time, money, and effort, and she needed to allocate these resources toward her EP, which was due for release later in the year.
“If I do a song with you, I will push it to the best of my ability, and that takes time, money, and effort that I think I need to best preserve for my E.P for the rest of the year,” she explained.
Earlier, Brandy had announced that she would only collaborate with Nyashinski, Kinoti, Watendawili, Femi One, and Fathermoh for the remainder of the year. However, some netizens accused her of conceiting and thinking she had already made it in the industry.
