Popular musician and businesswoman Esther Akoth alias Akothee has revealed that she has been unhappy despite being rich.
In a statement on March 31, Akothee said she has suffered a lot as a single mother making her sad and often opting for distractions to keep up.
“I’ve been through numerous hardships, evident in the weariness etched on my face. I found myself constantly on edge, lacking peace,” she said.
“Despite financial stability, I realized I was deeply unhappy. Rare were the moments of genuine joy; instead, I constantly sought distractions, often taking the children out to avoid confrontations at home.”
Akothee Reveals How She Was Coping
Akothee said her solace seemed to be in the company of friends and the temporary escape provided by alcohol even though she was not being a regular drinker.
She explained that she at times relied on socializing as a means of coping.
“What ultimately brought me back home each time was the responsibility of caring for my children – preparing them for school, sharing meals, and tucking them into bed. But once they were asleep, I found myself seeking refuge outside,” she stated.
Additionally, the musician explained that she took her three daughters to a boarding school so they could see less or no drama.
She added that boarding was also meant to build their confidence of facing life alone just in case “nature calls her”.

Being A Good Mother & Dancing in Bars
Akothee maintained that she has been a good mother, and she should not be judged based on her life on social media.
“Yes, I consider myself a good mother and a devoted wife. Unfortunately, I’ve faced a string of misfortunes. Please don’t judge me solely based on what you see on social media,” she said.
“If you ever saw me club hopping all night dancing in Bobs, Gokart, the lounge, just know I was empty and looking for a place to ease my pain.”
Further, she said the baby mama journey has numbed all her life expectations, adding that she now only needs peace after undergoing a rough life as a result of her decisions.
“I have suffered enough with the choices I made. Now I just want a very quiet life. I have no energy for drama. Sometimes I feel like switching off,” she said.
