The Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has issued an apology to the many Kenyan youths who have been conned while job seeking.
Speaking in Nakuru on Monday, November 25, Mutua acknowledged that several Kenyans had fallen victim to fraudulent recruitment agencies promising jobs abroad.
He expressed regret over the financial and emotional turmoil that such scams have inflicted on hopeful job seekers.
“For too long, unscrupulous elements in the recruitment sector have preyed on our youth, costing them millions of shillings and dashing their dreams,” said Mutua.

Consequently, Mutua assured attendees of the recruitment program that under his leadership, the government would ensure such malpractices are eradicated.
“We have already suspended or revoked the licenses of rogue agencies. There will be no room for conmanship in this sector.
“You must eschew negativity and take the initiative to better your future. This government is fully in charge of this process to ensure it is transparent and beneficial,” added the CS.
CS Mutua has been spearheading the recruitment process across the country, with a target to link t 20,000 job seekers with employment opportunities in the Middle East, Europe, Canada and Australia
Further, he encouraged victims of past cons to remain optimistic and seize the opportunity to transform their lives.
Nakuru hosted the fourth session of the exercise, following successful events in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties. The drive will proceed to Baringo County on Tuesday and Nyandarua County on Wednesday.

The event was attended by key officials, including Principal Secretary for the State Department of Labour Shadrack Mwadime, Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones, County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara, and National Employment Authority Director General Edith Okoki.

Mutua on Kenyans Getting Jobs Before Christmas
On Sunday, November 24, Mutua announced that some lucky Kenyans would be flown abroad before Christmas.
According to the CS, the government had successful recruitment drives in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties. Consequently, the program had secured over 1,000 job opportunities for Nakuru residents.
Mutua directed the applicants to carry their National ID, relevant academic certificates, updated CV, and passport to the recruitment drive.
“We have secured over 1,000 job opportunities for Nakuru residents in countries such as Australia, Qatar, Poland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Germany, among others,” stated Mutua.
