Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to help the family of a Kenyan who died in Australia. Gachagua said that he will collaborate with President William Ruto and stand with the family.
According to Gachagua, the money will aid the family to bring back the body of their kin which has been stuck in Australia.
The DP was speaking during a church service in Nandi County on Saturday, February 24.
“We have been told there is a youth who died in Australia and money is needed so that the body can be brought back home.
I will talk with the President, and we shall release our contribution tomorrow so that we can help that family,” he said.
Australia Strategy
His remarks came after two Kenyan students in Australia died on January 21, 2024, after their car crashed into a tree, catching fire in the aftermath.
In a video recorded from the scene, the car burst into flames shortly after the crash, claiming the lives of the two young men hailing from Nandi County.

The vehicle was reportedly burnt and defaced completely with only the number plates left for police officers to use as a clue of identifying it.
However, Australian authorities did not reveal the cause of the accident immediately.
One of them named Kipchumba had travelled to Australia less than five months ago to pursue a Diploma in Business Administration in Perth.
Kenyans in Australia
In a series of unfortunate events, a Kenyan woman passed away in Brisbane Australia in the South of Wales on February 8, 2024.
Her death was the third one involving Kenyans living in Australia to be recorded, following the earlier deaths of the two students.

Reports indicated that the young woman was involved in a car crash that involved two cars.
The 21-year-old who was a passenger in one of the cars, was on her way to work when the accident occurred.
Preliminary reports of the crash from Australia revealed that the car she was travelling in crossed onto the wrong side of the road ramming into an oncoming vehicle.
The Kenyan woman died alongside another passenger and the driver of the vehicle.
An association of Kenyans based in the islandic country announced her death noting that the lady had moved to the country for work.
“It’s with profound shock and disbelief to announce the untimely demise that occurred on the 7th of February 2024 in Brisbane where she had gone to work. She was involved in a road accident, and she died on the spot”, read the announcement.
Further, the association requested Kenyans to stand in solidarity with the family as they planned to transport the body back to Kenya for her burial.
